Our workshops are divided into various modules, which can be expanded as required. First, participants learn basic terms to be able to talk about racism. We will then discuss what racism has to do with colonialism and what role Switzerland played during the colonial period. In the next part, the participants deal with their own stereotypes and prejudices in order to then be able to recognize everyday racism in themselves and others. In a final part, resources are presented. The entire workshop is designed interactively.

Kursleitung / Ansprechperson
Verein Diversum We are an association for people of all genders and all sexual orientations who identify themselves as a person of color (PoC). PoC is a self-term for people who are exposed to racism due to ethnic attributions, everyday, institutional or other forms of racism. Our goal is to create a safer space that enables exchange between PoCs. Safer Space is based on the idea of creating an inclusive environment free from discriminatory statements and actions. We also want to create a space in which projects that pursue the interests of PoC in Switzerland or serve to raise awareness among organizations and institutions regarding diversity issues are designed.
Kursziele / Lernziele

The aim of all our workshops is for participants to understand what racism is and to recognize the underlying power relationships. They should be given space to reflect on their own values and behavior patterns towards “the other” and “the stranger.” This makes a more inclusive organizational culture possible. The continuing education for teachers is intended to sensitize them to racism in a school context. Teachers should learn which educational methods and teaching tools they can use to design lessons that are inclusive and anti-racist. Teachers should also learn how to deal with racist incidents at their school in an appropriate way. Our aim is for teachers to be taught an anti-racist attitude and to enable them to create a learning atmosphere that is suitable for all children and young people so that they can exploit their full potential.
